Dealing with clay soils

We're coming back to this post two years after the work was carried out. We'll be able to report now on how the steps taken in preparing the ground have held up.
But first, picking up from the previous post where we dug out the dense clay soil but had to stop due to rain, this was the state of the dig after several weeks of rain.



We had to purchase a submersible pump to remove as much water as possible and hope that the weather would last. These pumps have a minimum depth they can work to. In this case it was 20mm. You can get pumps which work to less but they are much more expensive.
